FAQ

What are your office hours?

Monday – Thursday from 7:30am to 5:00 pm; Friday 7:30 am to 3:00 pm; by appointment only; and phones are answered until 4:00pm. We are closed for most major holidays. Same day sick appointments are often available.

When should I arrive for my appointment?

As a courtesy to other patients, we request you arrive on time, preferably 10 minutes before your scheduled time.   If you haven’t completed your paperwork, please arrive 20 minutes before your appointment.  If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, you may be asked to reschedule.

What should I bring to my appointment?

  • Current Insurance Card/ID

  • Current list of your medications, including dosage and directions.

  • Payment. We accept cash, personal in-state checks, VISA and MasterCard. There is a service charge for returned checks.  Payment is expected at the time of service.

What is your cancellation policy?

The office should be contacted at least one business day prior to your appointment.  The cancellation fee is $50 for cancellations less than one business day.  Please be considerate and realize another patient may miss the opportunity to see the doctor at that time.

What if I need help after hours?

If you have a true medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest ER. After hours, a physician is on call and available to handle urgent patient problems.

How do I get my medication refilled?

Refills for medications should be called directly to your pharmacy. Your pharmacy will contact us for refill authorization.  All prescription requests are handled during regular office hours and filled within 48 hours.  If you have any issues with this, please contact us.

How do I request my medical records?

In accordance with Texas law, you will have to provide a written request for the release of medical records. If you are in need of a copy of your medical records or if you wish to have a copy sent to another physician, we will be happy to prepare them and/or forward the request to our copy service. Please allow 15 business days for records requests to be processed. A fee may be assessed by the copy service for personal copies with payment required before records will be released.

I have been a patient of Dr. Giep's since January 2013.  I came to him just after being diagnosed with diabetes.  He was very caring and helpful and has helped me get my diabetes under control.  He always takes time to answer questions and remembers things about my life.  He is truly the head of my health care team.   The entire staff has always been very welcoming and caring.
